Contains various calculator programs and games for the TI-84 Plus CE Graphics calculator
The following is required
- A TI-84 Plus CE
- A USB-A to Mini USB B cable (computer USB to the calculator USB)
- The latest TI Connect CE (not SmartView) found here
The following is recommended to improve programs however it is not required
- The TI-84 Plus CE OS version 5.4 (do not get 5.6 unless absolutely necessary as it makes it harder to play games)
To install all standard games, etc, follow the "Standard Calculator Setup" instructions
- Connect calculator to computer via the USB cable
- Open TI-Connect
- If calculator version is < 5.4 it is recommended to get (specifically) OS 5.4 by dragging the Ti84CEBundle file in "OS versions" onto the calculator
- Navigate to the chosen games folder
- Drag all files onto the calculator that are needed (Note: In the README files, they often state what you need to drag onto the calculator)
Other apps can be found by searching "TI-84 Plus CE programs" on the internet and several should come up Note: Programs that you wish to install must be for the TI-84 Plus CE, not another type of calculator as these will rarely work.
Also, many apps are not used in the calculator and take up space. You can delete these by completing the following steps on the calculator:
- Press the following keys [2nd]→[+]→[2]→[1] to get through to memory management
- From here delete unnecessary applications etc. Recommended things to delete include:
- CelSheet
- Deutsch
- EasyData
- Español
- Français
- Netherlan
- Portug
- Svenska
For a standard set-up of the calculator, the following steps should be undertaken
- Update the OS to 5.4 if this is not already done
- On the calculator delete the memory by going [2nd]→[+]→[7]→Scroll right to ALL→[1] (Press All Memory)→[2]
- Go to the "Default Calculator Setup" folder and drag all files into the calculator
- After files have been transferred, install Cesium following steps outlined in its README document in the "Shells" folder
Various apps may have unusual names that would benefit from being changed within the calculator. Further instructions will be located in the README.md files located in each folder.
Due to various reasons, several apps may not been included in the "All Files" folder located within each program type. These may be due to:
- Large sizes
- Perceived low-quality
- Or a large amount of customisation when installing the app
- Are proof-of-concept programs
Standard Instructions:
- Press the [prgm] button
- Select your program using the arrows
- Press [enter] twice to use the program
If Cesium is installed:
- Press [apps] to get to the apps screen
- Open "2. Cesium" by scrolling down using the arrows and pressing enter twice
- Select applications using the now-opened Cesium shell
Instructions may be found either in the program or if not, navigate to the "Other" folder, find the game and read the Readme file if available. If neither is there, try playing around with controls to learn them.
Some programs are parts of other programs and are not designed to be run as standalone apps. While these usually don't affect the calculator, it is best to leave these alone.
Various programs allow for the addition of level packs or textures to be added to their default functionality. Each of these is explained within each program part found in the "Program Additions" folder.
If your calculator starts to run out of RAM, you may need to archive some apps, moving their location from RAM to storage This can be done using the following steps:
- Press [2nd][+(/mem)]
- Select "2:Mem Management/Delete"
- Select "1:All..."
- To switch between archive (ARC) and RAM, press the enter button while hovering on the program
- To delete programs, press the [del] button while hovering
Alternatively, if the Cesium application has been installed, it is recommended to use Cesium by going into Cesium, hovering over the app and following the steps there.
Note: If uninstalling programs, many will have AppVars used to hold highscores, progress, etc. Usually these are relatively small and should not be deleted in case the program is installed again. However there are also many AppVars used to store different parts of a program and is not related to any save states. These are usually quite high in terms of size and may be deleted without repercussions should the game be installed again.
