KB&GR 31/1/25 14:30 With the ease of editing the tpar files concerns relating to using known good files and reverting to specific versions was raised.
There are some historic tickets, https://github.com/ISISComputingGroup/IBEX/issues/6669 and https://github.com/ISISComputingGroup/IBEX/issues/5081 KB will add these to lists of things to look between now and the next deploy.
EMU and HIFI would both like to start using the HVCAEN system, KB will create a task for this to be looked at in a future shutdown.
Script generator changing things on the fly was also brought up as something that is in a confused state.
https://github.com/ISISComputingGroup/IBEX/issues/6841 is the ticket detailing what KB thought had been added to allow this to happen and has some instructions for using the system within it. Whilst the layout has changed since this ticket, the Run, Pause, and Stop buttons do all still exist. As KB understands the requirement, this is correct, feedback of what should be different has been requested.

KB & JD 12/11/2024 15:30 4 members of the science group present. Asked for the link to the training slides (will send when sourced). Potential for potentiostats in the future, but TBC. Using and liking synoptics, apart from when the block and the synoptic values are out of step with each other. Added a re-requested label, and added to the items for the next PI.
Excitations
ALF/LET/MAPS/MARI/MERLIN
LC & ES 15/11/2024 15:00
  • On MAPS and MARI, the refl tab has appeared, though normally disabled. Could it please be disabled
  • They also asked that Script Server and Script Generator tabs could also be hidden from view for simplicity
  • There’s a general consensus that alarms are not terribly useful, people tend to ignore them, they don’t give much more information than they could get -- We have enabled alarm latching, you can acknowledge alarms and they will go away, this might be solution. Perhaps better communication on why we have certain alarms, and if there are alarms which would be more useful for them could be created.
  • There was interest in queuing scripts together, but also desire to disable script server perspective, possibly meaning that there hasn't been clear enough communication on what the Script Server and Generator can do and its usefulness.
Disordered Materials
NIMROD/SANDALS
DK & IG 14/11/2024 09:00
  • Environment monitoring would be really useful, especially with regard to equipment constraints, avoiding/diagnosing equipment veto interlocks. There may be a request from users at a later stage to implement something.
  • On NIMROD it would be nice not to have the pressure alarm when they have to vent for sample changing. Setting a large upper limit could work or disable the alarm permanently. Further discussions are required to firm up requirements and context.
  • ZA would like to attend the next training session.
Group B Misc
SELAB/SOFTMAT/DCLAB/DETMON
LJ & GR 27/11/2024 16:00
  • Zoom in/Zoom out functionality on spectra plots lacks clarity (possibly size of icons or location of them?)
  • #8583.

Rather than inviting all scientists to the end of sprint demo, a couple of developers will now be demonstrating IBEX to each instrument group separately at a time convenient to them. Such demos will occur in the weeks following an end of sprint and can be tailored for particular instrument interests.

Instrument scientist details for the various groups can be found here if they are not listed then look them up here and support groups here.

Sprint demos will:

  • Illustrate the changes made to IBEX during a sprint to instrument scientists
  • Get feedback on these changes
  • Encourage instrument scientists to share experiences with IBEX, positive and negative, with the IBEX team

There should be two people on each team. Everybody who is part of the IBEX project should always be involved in at least one demo. (See Dev Wiki for more details)

Draft email/meeting invitation

Dear all,

We would like to schedule a quick meeting to demonstrate the new features of IBEX to you and to gather some feedback. These features are outlined in the release notes as specified here. ADD LINK

In particular, this is an opportunity:

  • For us to demonstrate the latest changes in IBEX
  • For you to give us any feedback, good or bad, about IBEX
  • For you to tell us about any new kit or changes to existing kit which may affect the control system
  • For you to ask any questions you might have about IBEX
  • For you to request any new features

It would be useful for at least one representative from each instrument to come to this meeting if possible. Please forward this invitation to anyone who we’ve inadvertently missed or you think should be there.

Thanks in advance,
