My name is Jonathan Kitt.
I'm a lab technicien currently working on Wheat genomics in the Genetics, Diversity and Ecophysiology of Cereals lab in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne.
In the last years, my work has been mainly focused on data analysis using the R langage :
- 🧹 cleaning and preparing data
- 🔎 data analysis
- 📊 creating visuals to share results
I post from time to time on my personal blog.
I mainly code in R, but recently started learning Python.
I use git for version control, with GitHub for personal work and GitLab for my academic work.
When coding in R, I use RStudio. Since I started learning Python, I've started using VSCode.
Passionate about R, keeping up to date with new packages, and everything related to the {tidyverse}, I started back in 2022 a coding club in my research lab, for which I wrote workshop tutorials (in french) :
- Installing R and RStudio
- First steps with R
- Data wrangling with the {tidyverse}
- Dataviz using {ggplot2}
- Reporting with RMarkdown
- Introduction to git
What I really appreciate about the R community is being able to find and give some help, and get inspiration from what other coders share. I contributed to correcting typos in the following online books :
As a fan of the Dr Who TV Series, I created the {datardis} package, which contains details about the episodes. The package is available on CRAN.
I also contributed to the following packages :
- {werpals} : palettes inspired by Disney and nature.
- {datefixR} : Standardize dates in different formats or with missing datas
