Modular Charge Controller Concept
Typical charge controllers consist of several sub-circuits that could be separated into different PCBs. This would allow to have a strictly modular design and upgrade the hardware step by step. It will also increase repairability.
Mechanical integration in the front of the housing.
Would be connected to the charge controller main board via the already existing UEXT connector, which includes most important communication protocols.
Possible module variants:
- LEDs for SOC and load output indication
- Display (OLED or LCD)
- Display + Buttons
- Bluetooth module
Mechanical integration in the front or the side of the housing.
Would be connected to the charge controller main board via 2 wires and plug, possibly JST PH or Würth WR-WTB 2.00 (for JST XH there are no SMD connectors available).
Possible module variants:
- Dual USB port
- Single USB port with less power (=cheaper)
- USB-C port in the future
- 12V external jack
