Introduction to House Ads

AdFlake enables you to create custom House Ads that will be fetched from our servers and displayed inside your application together with your configured ad networks.

House Ads enable you to promote other products (apps, websites, ...) inside your applications. Users that click on a house ad are sent to a predefined URL. This URL can be a website, an AppStore URL, or maybe even another application. AdFlake uses the built-in URL opening mechanisms, so if there is a handler for another protocol installed on the OS, AdFlake will forward it to it.

House Ads are the best way to cross-sell your other products to your existing customers, there is no advertisement network that will give you unlimited impressions/clicks for 0,00 $.

AdFlake currently supports two different House Ad types:

• Image Banner: A creative will be displayed like a regular static banner. AdFlake also supports higher density images (Retina!) up to 640x100p
• Text + Image Banner: If you don't have a creative on hand, we offer you the possibility to create a text based banner with an optional 38x38 image that will be displayed next to your text.

Creating your first House Ad

Create your first House Ad by browsing to your AdFlake home page and clicking on the Add House Ad button.

A modal window will popup that enables you to enter your meta data and upload your banner creative. The House Ad settings can be changed at anytime once created.

The house ad meta data includes the following properties:

• The name of the House Ad for identifying purposes.
• The target URL that will be opened when the user clicks/interacts with the banner.
• The target URL content type to specify the content of your URL. (I.e: AppStore link, Play Store link, website, etc.)

Once you have entered your banner meta data, select the type of the house ad.

• Selecting Banner will require the upload of at least one banner creative with a resolution of exactly 320x50 pixels. Optionally you can upload higher density creatives for the densities 1.5x (480x75p) and 2.0x (640x100p, retina). AdFlake only supports the upload of banner creatives in the JPG or PNG format.
• Selecting Image and Text will require you to specify the banner text that will be displayed. In the drop down list below the text field the image source has to be selected.
  • Based on url content type is set which will show a generic image based on the content type of your target URL.
  • Use custom 38x38 image allows you to upload a custom 38x38p image that will be used. AdFlake only supports the upload of banner creatives in the JPG or PNG format.

A preview of your House Ad can be found on the detail page of the ad, which can be accessed through the home page by clicking the name of your House Ad.

House Ad allocation

House Ads are treated by AdFlake like regular ad networks, thus you can specify the allocation/weight of your house ads identical to all other ad networks (Visit Introduction to AdFlake of more information).

However, you can also define the allocation/weight of individual House Ads for your application. To configure which House Ads are active in your application open your app's detail page and select House Ads from the second level navigation displayed next to your app's details.

To enable a House Ad simply set it's allocation to a value greater than 0%. Identical to the ad network configuration, your total allocation must be either 100% or 0% (no house ads active).
