A convenient solution that first comes to mind is to separate the status and tasks into separate windows. This is a dirty concept that should not be merged into main, rather into a separate branch. Needs more testing and tinkering.
Also, to remove the flickering, you need to remove the extra clear() calls.

Is there a way for me to redirect this to a different branch, or would you prefer to resubmit it to a new branch?

I can change base branch by editing the PR, but I only have a choice between main and sidebar branches, so I guess you need to create a new branch. (e.g. here)

Actually I thought a new branch can be created when you file a new PR.
