[Query]: About writing the translated message into two different lines within separate double quotes or the same line within 1 pair of double quotes?

I came across one message. It has the following format.

msgid ""
"as.data.table.array method should only be called for arrays with 3+ "
"dimensions; use the matrix method for 2-dimensional arrays"
msgstr ""

Earlier when we came across messages that are of more than one line and are present in two separate lines within two different pairs of double quotes, we wrote the translated message also in two different lines inside two separate double quotes.

But in the R message that I have pasted above, when I read the two lines, they are meaningful when they are read in continuation as one line.

Should I write the translated message as two separate lines (as per our convention) or one line that brings out the meaning of the message?

@jyoti-bhogal - I think the correct thing to do is to write a meaningful message. The lines can be separated at a logical break point in the hindi version - instead of breaking such that when read as a whole, it won't have a proper meaning.

So basically separate the lines, such that the meaning is not lost. This way you would retain the meaning + there will still be two lines.

@jyoti-bhogal i also think going for a more meaningful message should be preffered in this case .

and other translation teams have already done that, so i don't think this will cause any conflicts.

for example this snippet from the chinese translations:

msgid ""
"as.data.table.array method should only be called for arrays with 3+ "
"dimensions; use the matrix method for 2-dimensional arrays"
msgstr ""
"请只对3维或以上的数组使用as.data.table.array方法对二维数组请使用matrix方法"

Thanks for the suggestions! I am writing on two separate lines within two separate double quotes while also maintaining the meaning of the message.

See this for example:

#: as.data.table.R:86
msgid ""
"as.data.table.array method should only be called for arrays with 3+ "
"dimensions; use the matrix method for 2-dimensional arrays"
msgstr ""
"as.data.table.array विधि केवल 3+ आयामों वाले एरे (array) के लिए ही कॉल की जानी चाहिए;"
"2-आयामी एरे (array) के लिए मैट्रिक्स (matrix) विधि का उपयोग करें"
