As the clock goes through the boot and startup processes, it will flash certain LEDs to indicate progress. For a normal boot, you should see the following:
Process | LED Indications |
---|---|
Wifi Connecting | The 12 o'clock hour LED will light up |
MQTT Connecting | The 3 o'clock hour LED will light up |
OTA Updates Enabled | The 6 o'clock hour LED will light up |
LED Self-Test | All minute LEDs will light up in sequence, followed by the hour LEDs |
OTA Port Broadcasting | The 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock hour LEDs will light for a few seconds |
Current Time Displayed | As soon as the clock receives the current time, it will be displayed |
Note that there may be a few second delay between the time the OTA Port broadcast finishes and the time is displayed. The clock will request that Home Assistant (or the other MQTT-enable automation system) transmit the current time. Once it is received, the time will be displayed.
If the clock does not boot up normally, you can use the above indicator lights to help determine at what point the boot/setup is failing. For example, if the 12 o'clock hour LED lights up and stays lit and nothing else happens, it indicates that the clock is having a problem connecting to your WiFi.
