Wheely: Android Test Project

You will write an Android miniapp where the user chats with an AI. The AI is implemented on the server, however it is not clever so it replies only gibberish.

Running the server

Pre-requisites: Ruby 1.9, rubygems. You can install Ruby using rvm:

	$ \curl -L https://get.rvm.io | bash -s stable --ruby=1.9.3

Install Bundler

	gem install bundler

Install depedencies

	cd server
	bundle install

Run the server

	bundle exec ruby minisiri.rb

Playing with the protocol

Open http://www.websocket.org/echo.html in a modern browser, connect to ws://localhost:8080 and send the only message in our protocol:

	["siri.ask","32423423",{"question":"hello?"}]

You should get a reply like:

["result","32423423",{"answer":"Avoid the spirit had finished speaking and perdition."}]

The protocol we looks like this:

	[message_name, random_id, payload]

Requirements

  • You can use 3rd parties websocket clients, but they should support wss
  • You should have some kind of reachability support (reconnect automatically to the server after the internet connection starts working again)
  • If the internet connection is offline, queue the messages and send them once you are reconnected
  • Display which messages have been sent, and which ones are pending. You can use the random_id to correlate requests and responses

What to do next

Fork the repo and place your sourcecode in the client directory
