0.9: Notifications, WIP categories, fixes

New notifications functionality, WIP categories, enhanced privacy (removed trackers), and many fixes.

Important:

• Removed Flurry Analytics, and all its trackers.
• Notifications are now enabled by default, when given permission.
• Database fields have changed with this release. Make sure to backup your data if you wish to rollback to a prior release.

Improvements:

• New notifications (app updates, weekly releases, and more)
• New WIP categories at anime details
• Removed all third party trackers
• New seekbar with ticks that marks last progress
• Download speeds can now reach 50 Mbps

Changes:

• Removed Flurry Analytics in favor of ACRA
• Added a new field to the database to represent notification status

Fixes:

• Attempted a fix for a common case where the app freezes after watching an episode
• Fixed app crashes related to navigation
• Download now stops when asked to stop

There may be more changes in this version, but I forgot about them, as this release was left abandoned for a few months.

Honestly, I had been using Saikou to watch anime, but now that it's gone, I've decided to keep working on Kaizoyu! in the mean time. Though, expect releases to be slow, as work is keeping me busy these days.

0.8: The "everything playable" update

New backup functionality, and episode search improvements.

Important:

• Most shows found at the media library can now be made playable, prior report at our Discord.
• Backups may be incompatible with newer versions of Android (ex: Android 6 Kaizoyu Backup may not import under Android 13 Kaizoyu).

Improvements:

• All the "Schedule" section is now accurate, and fully usable.
• Introduced a new "Storage" screen, found at the "More" tab.
• Added backup (and import) capabilities to the app. They're found at the storage section.
• Thumbnails quality upgraded even further. If the app is laggy for you after this update, this could be why. If so, please open an issue.

Changes:

• Moved "Cache" section from "Settings" to "Storage".
• KaizoServices search enhancer is now reached only once per show flow, instead of every time an episode is searched for.
• The app can now operate without using KaizoServices, but with limited functionality.

Fixes:

• Seasonal split season shows will now display the right amount of episodes, but with no limits, unlike normal seasonal shows.
• Shows with over 999 episodes are now partially playable (ex. One Piece).
• Split season shows are now playable (after they're fixed by us, prior report). Issue #3 is now closed.
• Shows with no poster thumbnail will now display the cover thumbnail if available, unlike before.

News:

• KaizoServices has been experiencing some downtime lately.

This update is a small one, focused at making more shows playable inside the app, like Jujutsu Kaisen S2 and many, many other shows with split seasons.

0.7: The UI/Library update

New show details UI, upgrades at main screen UX, and lists support.

Important:

• Your favorites will be moved to "Currently Watching" list after update
• Moving shows between lists is done by saving it again to another list
• Downgrading the app is now impossible without data loss

Improvements:

• New "Library" with lists "Watch Later, "Currently Watching" and "Finished". This replaces "Favorites"
• PiP (Picture in Picture) is now fully supported
• Audio focus is now correctly requested and controlled
• New show "Details" user interface
• Added a color animation that is visible when a show has no cover image
• Clicking the show poster or cover at the details screen will now open the full size image outside the app
• Added a "Save" button to send content to a list at the "Library"
• Show trailer is now available at details screen, under the "Information" tab
• Episodes can now be refreshed/reloaded by reselecting the "Episodes" tab
• New "Share" button at details screen, this button can share a Kitsu, or a Kaizoyu URL
• New "Report issue" button at details screen, with no current functionality
• App details now supports deep links (generated from the "Share" functionality)
• Improved thumbnails quality (not applicable for low spec phones)
• New "ANN News" bar over the Search bar at "Home" tab
• New loading animations at "Home" tab
• "Home" and "Schedule" tabs now have swipe to refresh
• Landscape mode is fully supported almost everywhere in the app
• New Video Player layout that accommodates better to smaller screens (Portrait mode too)
• Video Player controls now hide by tapping again
• Splitscreen is now oficially supported
• New XDCC mode toggle at "Settings" Download section
• New "Permeate Watching List" toggle at "Settings" QoL section
• Added a dynamic placeholder for shows that have no cover thumbnail (Not available in Home tab yet)

Changes:

• Renamed "Auto-Favorite" to "Automatic Watching List"
• Removed "Favorites" tab from the app in favor of "Library" tab
• Removed "Settings" tab from the app in favor of "More" tab
• Changed the chips from the "Schedule" tab, they're regular tabs now
• App now runs in Immersive mode (when possible), and will draw under status/navigation bar
• Moved Open Source Licenses and Check for Update button from "Settings" to "More" tab
• Open Source Licenses are now dinamically generated at compile time

Fixes:

• Bug that would crash the player when clicking the "Language" button if the video had no subtitles/audio track

Breaks:

• Android 6 clients may experience layout issues, needs further testing
• Switching from portrait to landscape at "Home" tab may cause unexpected crashes
• Reloading the "Home" tab may cause the wrong thumbnail covers to load

0.6: Protocol and cosmetic upgrades

Better download implementation, minor cosmetic changes

Improvements:

• Upgraded KaizoLib to 1.7 (Now integrated inside app, updates of library won't be listed here onwards)
• Fully implemented DCC protocol (compable with XDCC). This transfers to better, more reliable downloads
• New social links badges at the bottom of app settings
• New "Developer mode", hidden by default inside the settings menu
• Long clicking an anime title at the Details screen will copy the title to the clipboard

Changes:

• KaizoLib is now fully integrated and bundled with the application by default
• Added a new error case for IRC Handshake, "Server not found"
• Added a new error case for IRC Handshake, "IP blacklisted"
• Logs of the current session are now stored with useful data. These won't be shared by default, nonetheless, they can be shared from within the "Developer mode" menu.
• Added a new "keep alive" mechanism to help mitigate download issues

Fixes:

• Playback is way more reliable, and consistent, in highly monitored networks, ex: China, Russia, etc.
• Fixed bug where the search bar would disappear from search
• IPv4 is now prefered over IPv6, but the option to use it is still available

• Kaizoyu! is now 4 versions away from oficially releasing a stable version to a wider audience!
• Next update is scheduled to contain UI upgrades
• Beta version functionality is now on the works for testing
• We're entering a new japanese season of anime emissions. Updates to our schedules section will be coming soon
