This implements the background component for handling photo essay media to fix #135.
I'm spinning my wheels on the deprecation of the previous iteration of the block - either I don't understand exactly how deprecation is supposed to work, or I'm still missing something. So if the photo essay block is already in use quite a bit, we might need to poke around at this a bit more.
