Planning a CoreDev.tech event
This page collects a few notes on planning a CoreDev.tech event. Contact a previous event organizer if you need more information or help.
Obviously this is the most important consideration. You'll need a venue with:
- desk space for everyone
- power outlets (and adaptors for international travelers)
- fast internet
- whiteboards
- projectors or monitors
- break-out spaces for smaller groups
- tea, coffee, cold drinks, etc
Previous events have had breakfast and lunch catered at the event venue. Evening meals have also been provided at nearby restaurants.
At previous events, we have booked out evening entertainment, such as escape rooms or a cocktail bar.
May be required for the venue.
Bitcoin Core t-shirts for previous events have been made at https://www.spreadshirt.com and stickers at https://www.allstickerprinting.com. Talk to a previous organizer for image files.
Depending on the venue, you may want posters to guide people to the entrance/exit/etc.
Update the website at https://github.com/coredev-tech/coredev-dot-tech with event details. Do not make the venue or attendees list public (for privacy and security reasons).
There are funds available for hosting the event and providing travel subsidies for contributors who cannot get travel expenses from their employers. Talk to previous event organizers for details.
Speak to the previous organizers to get a list of past attendees. Provisional dates for the event can be announced on #bitcoin-code-dev, during a weekly IRC meeting. Don't make the venue or attendees list public (for privacy and security reasons).
After the event, send a survey to the participants to get feedback on how the event went, and whether there are improvements we can make for the next event.
