The following overview contains a list of Windows versions that have currently been tested with WIM-Backup.
Note: These tests are a kind of "Smoke Tests" (backup/restore). The results were neither examined in detail nor observed over a longer period of time or otherwise subjected to in-depth evaluation tests. The results are therefore without any guarantee.
Please note the Disclaimer in the README.md

The following figure illustrates the steps necessary for the preparatory creation of a Win-PE-based, bootable USB medium that is to contain the deployable WIM-Backup.
Note: The program shown here is the Rufus program as an example. This can be downloaded from the following URL: Rufus on GitHub
Of course, any other tool can be used to create the required bootable media, e.g. Ventoy on GitHub.
For most scenarios, especially if you are storing a Windows operating system or larger files, the target drive should be formatted with NTFS (recommended). NTFS supports large files (greater than 4 GB), file compression, and other Windows-specific features such as permissions.
