Description of your changes
Sync with crossplane/crossplane#4500.
In particular I forgot the proto package has to match on client and server for RPCs to actually work.
I have:
make reviewableto ensure this PR is ready for review.How has this code been tested
I'm using it to write E2E tests for c/c. :)
