In this wiki, we will go through the different steps required to get a Turris Omnia router, up, running, and working with OpenVSwitch. The configured Turris Omnia router will be used to test the SDN/MUD implementation.
Turris Omnia is a crowdfunded open-source small office/home office (SOHO) network router developed by the CZ.NIC association. The Turris Omnia runs the TurrisOS, an OpenWrt derivative. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Marvell Armada 385 ARM CPU. The base model has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB flash storage, a real-time clock with battery backup, a SFP module and a secure hardware that uses pseudorandom number generator. It also supports WIFI via a Mini PCIe, in the form of 3x3 MIMO 802.11ac and the older 2x2 MIMO 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Its connectivity consists of:
- 1 WAN Gbit port
- 5 LAN GBit ports
- 2 USB 3.0 ports
- 2 Mini PCI Express
- 1 mSATA / mini PCI Express
The front panel in contains (from left to right):
- Power connector
- Power LED indicator
- LAN0-LAN4 conncetors indicators
- WAN connector indicator
- PCI1 (5GHz Wi) LED indicator
- PCI2 (2.4GHz Wi) LED indicator
- PCI3 Unassigned
- User-congurable indicators
- LED brightness adjustment button
The back panel contains (from left to right):

- RESET button (below antenna)
- WAN interface port
- SFP interface port
- 3.0 USB port
- Wi antennas
