Background

Erythroparvoviruses are a genus within the Parvoviridae family, known primarily for infecting vertebrates and targeting red blood cell precursors (erythroid progenitor cells) during the virus's replication cycle. The most well-known species in this genus is Human parvovirus B19, which is a common pathogen in humans.

Human parvovirus B19 (B19V) is the most well-known species in this genus, which is responsible for several clinical conditions in humans. Other related viruses: While parvovirus B19 is the best-studied, other erythroparvoviruses have been identified in various mammals, such as simian erythroparvoviruses in monkeys and porcine erythroparvoviruses in pigs.
