  1. Improve OSS backend support for JACK on non-Linux systems. 

    While at it remove double, 64-bit sample support, because it is not
even supported by Linux's OSS kernel driver.

A subtle difference is that BSD systems use packed 24-bit sample
mode by default. While Linux doesn't.
