Chrome According To Josh

Overview:

This repo houses a growing collection of custom Chrome extensions that I use to make Chrome a nicer place to work and play.

Installation:

While I do use most of these every day, I don't have the time to work on publishing them to the Chrome extension store at this time. If you're interested in trying any of them out on your machine, they can be loaded in "unpacked" mode by going to Extensions > Manage Extensions > Load unpacked. Make sure "developer mode" is toggled on if you don't see the unpacked option.

As a friendly reminder, you should always read the code before loading an unpacked extension from the internet! 🔒❤️

Language Learning:

  • save-audio-japanesepod101: Bringing a little HTML to the world of JavaScript audio files on japanesepod101.com.
  • save-audio-japandict: Bringing a little more HTML to the world of JavaScript audio files, this time on japandict.com.
  • save-audio-forvo: Bringing a little more HTML to the world of JavaScript audio files, this time on forvo.com.
  • save-audio-jisho: Bringing a little more HTML to the world of JavaScript audio files, this time on jisho.org.
  • save-audio-satori-reader-review: Bringing a little more HTML to the world of JavaScript audio files, this time on Satori Reader's review page.
  • japanesepod101-better-search: Improving the programatic search capabilities of the dictionary and Core word list tools on japanesepod101.com.
  • japanesepod101-sentence-mining: Making it easier to copy audio from lesson dialogs on japanesepod101com.
  • clean-copy: Copy without formatting on select Japanese language learning sites.
  • language-reactor-defaults: Set defaults to make language reactor behave a little better on YouTube and Netflix.
  • satori-reader-to-anki: An anki-connect integration that enables creating Anki cards from the Satori Reader review page.
  • jpdb-hide-learn-count: A small helper extension that hides the stressful "learn" count on jpdb.io.
  • jpdb-leeches: An extension that hi-lights leech cards on jpdb.io based on a manual list.

Coding + more:

  • gh-new-tab: Adds a toggle-able extension to force README links on GitHub web pages to open in new tabs.
  • gh-icons: Set custom favicons for specific kinds GitHub features to better differentiate between pinned tabs.
  • gh-wide: Collapse the right-hand column in supported GitHub UIs for more horizontal viewing space
  • zoom-cleanup: A wee bit of JS to cleanup those pesky extra Zoom tabs after opening a meeting.
  • to-the-right-now-yall: Close all tabs to the right of the current tab on a button click or keyboard shortcut.
