chore: upgrade project to node 20

What's the focus of this PR:

Current PR upgrades this package to include Node 20 support. Contains changes in #77 plus some additional updates, so the former can be closed.

🐳 Project configuration

• Bump project to version 3.4.2 (inherited from chore(deps): bump package to support Node 20 #77).
• Add Node 20 to supported engine versions in package metadata (inherited from chore(deps): bump package to support Node 20 #77).
• Change CI settings to run tests on Node 20.
• Change .nvmrc to reflect that project will now use Node 20.
• Update all dependencies to their latest minor versions.
