ran into some issues when installing and made updates for clarity

the pre-push checks seemed to run allright with these instructions. i ran all of them manually before realizing that at the end of the document was the one command to run them all, but whatevs. made me read the whole thing which is good. |

Will read through section about best practices before pushing and then wrap up this pr.
Maybe add the Ctrl+Shift+V shortchut to pull up the reader in VSCode? I guess it was IDE agnostic but still helpful.
