For the maps panel I would have two suggestions for improvement.
With a custom layer it would be useful to be able to set the minimum and maximum zoom level. For example, my pre-rendered tiles go up to level 20 and not just 18.
I would be happy about a support of MBTiles (https://github.com/mapbox/mbtiles-spec/blob/master/1.3/spec.md). With MBTiles you could use the map without internet.
