We have decided there is no reason in keeping the config. We just need the security-updates which can be turned on without the config file. Having the config file results only in creating the version-updates which bring chaos to the project.
We decided to establish a monthly recurring task reviewing the project dependencies to keep the packages versions up to date. (
npm outdated)
