#just the botched msgdrop.ino version from the inspired original version. The .py version and also the rest is untouched.
MsgDrop is an open anonymous message passer that may or may not be connected to the Interner(r)(tm).
Time having moved on finds us with an M5Stick-C ESP32 core to dev on....and our old but not forgoten MsgDrop was the first thing I thought of to test the new board out with. So here we are, still prealpha early days but things will progress. I will keep the ESP8266 version here and maybe upgrade it aas well.
The story is the same, a way to pass messages out of channel. This version I am going to try and add some crypto and the ability to run as a stand alone Access Point off of the Internet as well as the ability to attach to an existing network and be used from it
Hardware I am using... https://m5stack.com/collections/m5-core/products/stick-c
Language....MicroPython
MsgDrop uses an ESP8266 device running a combination Captive Portal and Web Server to allow users to connect easily via any wifi enabled device. Once connected the user can utilize any web browser and any traffic will be sent to the Web Server.
I am using the DNSServer.h found in tzapu's WifiManager You can either install through the Arduino Library Manager or checkout the latest changes or a release from github
Currently version 0.8+ works with release 2.0.0 or newer of the ESP8266 core for Arduino
Github version works with release 2.0.0 or newer of the ESP8266 core for Arduino
- Checkout library to your Arduino libraries folder tzapu's WifiManager
- Edit the configuration at the top of the .ino file
- Edit the .ino file to mod the page layout and text that will be served up.
- Upload it to your ESP8266.
- Reboot.
- Copied the codebased from Popup-chat
- Stripped blinky led and Serial comms to save cycles and power
- Moded some of the page text
