Battling
More detail on battling - both wild battles and player-to-player battles - is coming soon.
Battling as you know it, with no custom rule changes.
Note that as of v0.0.46, normal battles limit trainer-initiated swaps to five per trainer per battle, and legendaries are also now banned from normal battles. There are other challenge types without these limits.
Battle for fun! No XP will be awarded to trainers, nor their Pokémon. HP and PP will be immediately restored after the battle ends (including for fainted Pokémon), and no changes will occur to happiness, EVs, or any other stats.
Basically, it's a training ground, where nothing counts.
Legendaries are allowed in this challenge type.
Be ready to always welcome new players to your team with level-limited battles. It's no fun battling the trainer who has had weeks of advantage over you, so send a level-limited challenge to keep their team's power in check.
For experienced players, this means cultivating strong Pokémon at lower levels, avoiding the temptation to grow and evolve every mon you have. And for new players, this challenge type means a real fighting chance.
You can send level-limited battle challenges in level increments between 5 and 20, depending on the level range, up to the lowest maximum level that either you or an opponent has in their collection.
A quick game's a good game! In this challenge type, every move does double the damage. That means your battle will end very quickly - and it potentially gives a massive advantage to the player who goes first.
At the moment, the player who receives a battle challenge goes first, so consider carefully before sending this challenge, and choose your team leader wisely. Future versions of Slackémon will implement some form of mechanic around speed stats to decide move order.
This battle challenge ups the stakes. The winner goes home with double battle XP: that means your Pokémon could potentially level up very fast - and even faster during any existing double XP event!
Legendaries are permitted in this battle challenge! You're not limited to legendaries, but sending this challenge implies you want to fight it out with the best of the best.
Tip your Pokémon knowledge on its head: now fire singes water, and grass scratches away at ice! The type effectiveness table is completely flipped in this challenge type.
Note that type immunity is completely ignored. See Bulbapedia for more details on how this battle type plays out in the main game series.
As of v0.0.46, trainer-initiated swaps are limited in battle to prevent never-ending swap wars. But if you're the kind who likes that type of thing, this is the challenge type for you. Just make sure you have the time...
Let the rage flow! Power points (PP) reduce the effectiveness of continually relying on one or two strong moves. But in this challenge type, you can use your best moves as much as you like. This may make battles go faster, or it may give one trainer a huge advantage over another. Choose your team wisely!
Battling takes both skill and chance. But if you're willing to leave a large portion of the skill to chance, send a random team challenge. As the name suggests, both your and your opponent's team will be selected completely randomly from your existing Pokémon collection. It's anyone's guess who is going to come out on top!
