Minimalistic YouTube Browser Experience

This project provides a filter list designed to enhance your YouTube browsing by hiding distracting elements. With ytFilterList.txt, you can suppress flashy thumbnails, YouTube channel icons and badges, tempting YouTube Shorts suggestions, live stream chat, and prevent accessing YouTube Shorts entirely.

Getting Started

To use these filters, follow the steps below:

Prerequisites

• A web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.)
• uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus extension installed in your browser

Installation

1. Install uBlock Origin:

   • Visit the uBlock Origin website or AdBlock Plus website for instructions or download it directly from your browser's extension manager.

2. Access Filter Settings:

   • Click on the extension icon in your browser.
   • For uBlock Origin, navigate to Settings (gear icon) and 'My Filters' tab
   • For AdBlock Plus, navigate to Settings (gear icon) > Advanced > get to the 'Filters' section

3. Adding Filters:

   • For uBlock Origin, copy and paste the filters from ytFilterList.txt into the filter list section, or use the 'Import and Append' option on the text file to directly append the contents of the text.
   • For AdBlock Plus, use the 'Add Filter List via URL' option and copy paste the raw text URL of the ytFilterList.txt: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/vsangiah/minimalistic-youtube-browser-experience/refs/heads/main/YTuBlockOriginFilterList.txt

4. Browse YouTube:

   • Visit YouTube to experience a cleaner, distraction-free interface.
