About HRCloud2

Background

The "HR" in "HRCloud" represents "Honest Repair." Honest Repair was a computer repair business located in the northeastern U.S. started by zelon88. Before the HRCloud2 project began, zelon88 ran a small local Cloud Storage platform for his computer repair clients, dubbed HRCloud. With over 400 users, the original HRCloud was forced to close due to career moves and operating costs. HRCloud2 is a modular and standalone, open-source re-interpretation of the original platform that anyone can download and install themselves. This method of making Cloud Storage available to the masses embodies the spirit and passion of the original HRCloud while empowering users with an open-source, self-hosted model.

About HRCloud2

HRCloud2 is a personal Cloud platform / CMS that gives anyone with a spare x86 PC the ability to securely host, handle, and manipulate their files from home.

Written mostly in PHP, HTML, and Javascript by zelon88, HRCloud2 also incorporates several other open-source projects that were modified specifically for use in the HRCloud2 platform. Those projects include:

HRAI, HRConvert2, and a bunch of HRCloud software by zelon88 (Justin Grimes)

"Display Styled Directory Contents" by Chris Coyier

HRCloud2 has a high number of dependencies for proper functionality. It is required that you closely follow the "Installation Instructions" and agree to all of the licenses to each dependency. For more information about each dependency see the official "Dependency Requirements."

For a more detailed breakdown at how HRCloud2 works, see "How HRCloud2 works - Technical Description & Breakdown."

About HRAI

HRAI was designed initially to test the feasibility of a load-balancing personal assistant that would run plain speech commands for the user, and also as a "guilty pleasure" testing ground for new tricks and general-purpose AI experiments. It was initially started in 2015, ported to HRCloud2 in 2016 and overhauled several times since.

HRAI includes many lines of experimental code "commented out", allowing developers the ability to build upon our wildest concepts and experiments at home. "Commented" (non-functional) experiments include load-balancing, chatbot, and general-purpose AI related code.

About AppLauncher

AppLauncher was designed to provide HRC2 with a safe and predictable opening for modular code, applications, and features. HRCloud2 Apps are unique because they are extremely simple and easy for anybody of any coding experience to make. Any web language is supported, and as an added bonus PHP developers have access to WordPress functions to call in their projects. Create a WordPress website with HRCloud2 pulling the strings, or don't and run HRCloud2 as a standalone Cloud platform. Create end-user apps and install them with just a few clicks.
