Student Application Template for GSoC 2014

  1. Please connect with a possible mentor/admin for the project you are proposing early in the application process.

  2. It's required that you at least fix one small bug in the module you are applying to work on for us to consider your application.

  3. Please answer all of the following questions.

  • What is your e-mail address and IRC nick? (be prepared to share private phone numbers, facebook (or any other social network), gmail, jabber IM, skype, ..... as a backup way to communicate after approval for GSoC 2014)

  • What is your web page, blog, or microblog?

  • What is your academic background (year of education, university, country, participation in contests, ..... )?

  • Why you think you will have time during summer to practice at GSoC 2014 ?

  • What project you are interested in among projects we post to GSoC 2014 ?

  • What is the ultimate goal of your participation ?

  • Why are you the right person to work on this project?

  • How do you plan to achieve completion of your project?

  • Please provide a schedule with dates and important milestones/deliverables (preferably in two week increments).

  • What are your past experiences with the open source world as a user and as a contributor?

  • Please include a link to the committed code/documentation (example: https://git.some-sime.org/browse/[MODULE]/log/?qt=author&q=[YOUR NAME] or any other direct links to you commits) or to any issue tracking system (Bugzilla, JIRA, ....) for the bugs you fixed for the FLOSS projects.

  • Please include a link to the committed code for project Checkstyle or Sevntu.Checkstyle or any other checkstyle related projects(http://checkstyle.sourceforge.net/index.html#Related_Tools).

  • What other relevant projects have you worked on previously and what knowledge you gained from working on them?

  • What other time commitments, such as school work, another job, planned vacation, etc., will you have between May 19 and August 18?

  • What are your preferred Operating System that you use for development?

  • At what time zone you are living ?

  • What are your other languages your know to be ready to communicate (English, French, German, ...) ?
