Hi student!

Thanks for interest in your project. We appreciate that you connected with us to help us resolve us our GSoC ideas.

I want to make it clear for all participated students that

  • our organization have close connection with one of the university(SevNTU) so we already have few active students and to active development during few years and even right now. It is recommendation from Google [2].
  • we will choose only that students that already had experience in our project. It is even Google recommendation to work with students that we know.
  • Google will not give us more then 3 positions for students as this is our first year organization in GSoC [3].
  • we already have 3 students that participated in our project for long time, 1 slot is our wish but only Google decided how much it will fund.
  • if you persistent to participate please ask for test task to do for project (some issue from issue tracking system). It is recommendation from Google [1].
  • you are welcome to become familiar with our project and start participating/practising even out of GSoC program, we will not pay you, but we will share with you a descent knowledge of Java programming.

So I can not guaranty you anything, and even more we did decision on students already, 1 slot is unclear and .... .

I recommend you to send proposal to us and to other organization in the same time (it is possible!!!). I wish you luck.

ATTENTION: If you are unlucky in GSoC to be chosen, We are ready to join you in development of Checkstyle, during any period, with completely free schedule, no payments :(, but bunch of experience. Find us in mail lists https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sevntu-checkstyle or https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/checkstyle-devel

Use code tests and personal conversation to help select students. The student with the best proposal might not be the student who can produce the best code.

The best students interact with your organization's community during or even well before the application period.

Request 1 student slot for every 2 mentors you have. As a first year organization you will probably receive fewer than 4 students. THIS IS A GOOD THING. Use your first year to get used to the process. Expand in your second year. from
