  1. Review proposal on S3 standardization

Gregory to present:

Proposal is to have a new work item for the Cloud Storage TWG for S3 standardization.

Mission: Enabling standardized S3-compatible storage solutions, promoting interoperability and simplifying integration for seamless cloud storage experiences.

This will require close collaboration with Amazon.

Goals:

  • Establish compliance certification
  • Foster ecosystem collaboration
  • Enable multi-cloud interoperability

Formation and participation

  • SDC Talk
  • Webinars, Meetups
  • Engage with key open source and vendor implementations
  • Build relationship with Amazon

Discussion around what benefits such an effort would provide for Amazon.

Clients tend to support a base subset of S3 operations, we may want to define profiles of compatibility.

Presentation looks good to take to TC. David will set this up, and will send an update to the TWG mailing list.
