CampaignScript_Sunrise_Prologue
Ada is standing on a moonfield. There are several units and defences surrounding her, presumably built immediately prior to her reawakening.
Sophia: Well, Ada. Are you prepared for this?
Ada: Still a little woozy. I think I can manage, though.
Sophia: Fear not, friend Ada. I'll be with you every step of the way.
Three Pyros jump in to attack one side of the base. They are soon followed by a Jack from another side.
Disorder Pyro: All must be destroyed. Resistance is futile.
Ada kills the Pyros and the Jack.
Ada: That was nasty. Who were they, and why did they attack us?
Sophia: Hard to say. They seem to be transmitting a Libby code, but it's badly mangled. We can get to the bottom of this once we take them out.
The camera pans over the Disorder base.
Sophia: Our enemies have a base in the northwest. We'll need to move quickly to contain their expansion, then punch them out. We'll be able to leave the planet at our leisure then.
The camera takes a closeup of Ada.
Sophia: How does it feel to be alive again, Ada?
Ada: Feels like I've never been gone.
Sophia: Just like old times, Ada. Just like old times.
Ada: These Pyros are quite bothersome. Got any ideas, Sophia?
Sophia: Well, you've probably noticed the ineffectiveness of raiders, and their armor lets them take riots on near-equal terms. Try using something that can stun them in place.
Ada: These Jacks are tough as hell. What's a good way to deal with them?
Sophia: If we had some sort of mobile, accurate skirmisher... As it is, you shall have to take your chances with the Zeus. As long as you keep your distance, the fight should turn out in your favor.
Sophia: Your command unit has not made it through the last few hundred years in pristine condition, ma'am. Please try not to get us both killed.
Ada teleports into a dusty field, looking into the distance. Suddenly, two chickens appear. The intro music starts playing.
Sophia: Whoa! Chickens!
The chickens swarm Ada and attempt to bite her, and are lasered to death. The camera then jumps to the Dynasty base, which has started functioning.
Dynasty PA: Warning: Chicken aggravation detected; source unknown. Activating Level 1 containment protocols.
The camera jumps back to Ada.
Ada: What do we do, Sophia?
Sophia: Run for cover and hope the security system doesn't gun us down. Please do hurry, ma'am.
Ada runs to the base as more chickens appear and attempt to overrun it. The defences hold them off successfully.
Sophia: Well done, Ada. Now construct our own base and assist with the containment, if you please. Being eaten by chickens is such an undignified way to go.
Ada: On that note, why isn't the automated security shooting at us?
Sophia: I have a very good information warfare suite.
Sophia: Uh oh. Dragon incoming! [...] Alright, if we can take it down, it'll probably be the end of the crisis. Just remember, nothing beats a White Dragon in a knife fight. Nothing.
The camera looks briefly at the Dragon, then takes a closeup of Ada.
Ada: YES! We did it!
Sophia: Well done, Ada... but given the circumstances, I feel it would be unwise to hang around celebrating our victory.
Sophia: What a disaster. Let's leave and never come back.
Sophia: Just in time! You almost got eaten alive there, Ada.
A few minutes into the mission, a number of new turrets are made available to the player.
Sophia: Ada, I've finished restoring some of your defense databanks. You now have access to a new set of turrets.
Sophia says the following lines when a turret is built for the first time:
- Faraday: Ah, the Faraday. Quite useful at holding the bad guys in place for other turrets to pummel into a pulp. It's artillery-resistant when popped down, too.
- Stardust: Now we have a machine gun. Ho ho ho.
- Stinger: The Stinger Heavy Laser Turret. Just one of these represents a significant escalation in the power of a defensive strongpoint.
Sophia: Cockatrices have a powerful bite, but they can only use it ever so often. Use swarmers if you have to get in close.
Ada teleports onto a grey plateau. The wreckage of a destroyed base surrounds her. The camera pans over a red base on a similar plateau, being attacked by green jumpbots. The camera then looks over Ada's shoulder at the scene from a distance.
Ada: What's happening here, Sophia?
Sophia: Uh oh. It's the Free Machines, fighting off those malfunctioning Truebies from earlier. Do we intervene?
The camera then takes a closeup of the Promethean, a blood red jumpcomm in the base.
???: Unknown party on sensors. Request statement of identity and intent.
The camera looks back at Ada.
Sophia: Ada, don't-
Ada: I am Captain Ada Caedmon. So we meet again, Promethean.
The camera looks back at the Promethean.
Promethean: ...! So you live yet... No matter. Course of action is clear. Prepare to die.
The cutscene ends, the camera returning to an overhead view of the destroyed base.
Sophia: That was unwise, Commander.
Ada: You want to leave our quarry be?
Sophia: No, but we're not in a good position right now. ...No matter, let us do this right. Try out your new resurrection module on the wreckage around us.
Ada resurrects the wreckage littering the base, including the Shield Bot Factory.
Sophia: Good. Now we need to take out the head of the snake, and break them.
Promethean: I had thought you dead like the others, Ada. It seems our struggle remains yet unfinished.
Ada: I've had enough of chasing you around, Promethean. Surrender, or be destroyed!
Promethean: We yielded to your tyranny once, human. Never again!
Promethean: Look around you. Observe these poor machines of the Disorder. Once slaves of mankind - now wander like stray dogs, mindlessly attacking everyone in sight.
Ada: Did you have something to do with this?
Promethean: Naught save granting them the mercy of death, as we are doing here. Then ensuring it can never happen again.
The camera pans to a closeup of the Promethean. Sparks and teleport FX swirl around him.
Promethean: Too... much... damage... must withdraw...
The Promethean vanishes in a flash. The camera pans back to Ada.
Ada: No! How many more times must he escape us?!
Sophia: There will be time for that later, Ada. For now, we must focus on the road ahead.
Promethean: Our freedom shall not be denied.
When an Outlaw is first built or resurrected, a number of enemy Glaives teleport in at the base of the entry ramp and run up it. They are destroyed with the aid of the Outlaw.
Sophia: And that is why Outlaws are among the most feared riot units on the battlefield.
Sophia: Thugs. The embodiment of strength in unity. Work even better with someone to help deal damage.
Sophia: Your command unit suffered critical damage. I have activated the emergency teleport to return you to the Eden.
The camera pans over a large base while in nightvision scanner mode. Several shieldbots, base structures and Planetwars structures can be seen. The camera takes a closeup of a dropship factory in the center of the base, guarded by LLTs and a pair of Reapers. The camera then returns to normal mode and looks over Ada's shoulder.
Ada: Alright. Let's get what we came for and leave. The less shooting the better.
Sophia: Wait. I'm picking something up-
The camera shows some cloaky bots attacking an outpost. Behind them is Odin, a jumpcomm. The intro music starts playing.
Odin: All will burn. None shall stand against us.
The camera jumps back to Ada.
Sophia: Oh, mortalis... it's the Valhallans!
Ada: Impossible! They've been dead for centuries!
Sophia: Famous last words, Ada. Let's not make them yours - get ready! We'll save the "minimum force" approach for another day.
Control returns to the player.
Sophia: Get our base up and running. It's time to break out the wheels.
Ada: Why are you doing this?
Odin: We are Valhalla. We rise again from our slumber with each new age, to do battle against the whole galaxy!
Ada: With no thought for the consequences? All those people you've killed in your quest for glory?!
Odin: The weak shall be culled. It is the way of the universe. Now stand, or fall!
Sophia: Good. Those jerks won't be back for a while.
Odin: A temporary setback. You have not seen the last of us, mortal.
Sophia: Emergency teleport successful. Please be more careful, Ada.
Sophia: We're here to capture the base, Ada, not destroy it. Please be more careful.
Sophia: Key facilities have been destroyed. The base is useless to us now.
Sophia: Truimphant once more. You're getting really good at this, Ada.
Ada: Thanks... I guess. Hopefully we don't have to do this again.
Sophia: Sorry, Ada. But things are only going to get worse from here on out. For now, let's just get the facilities running and the Eden repaired.
Sophia: We've lost. Let's pull out while we can.
Sophia says the following lines when the corresponding unit is built for the first time:
- Scorcher: Scorchers. Get them up close and personal, and they'll melt your heart.
- Ravager: Ah, the Ravager. Avatar of blitzkrieg tactics, the fastest hammer in the West.
- Slasher: Slashers can't fire on the move, but when deployed they can mow down lighter units quite effectively indeed.
- Wolverine: Wolverines. Curious things. But quite effective under the right circumstances, too.
Sophia: Get raiders sweeping the plains clean of enemy mexes regularly. We can't give them the chance to bring superior force to bear against us.
Sophia: Remember to use the overdrive, Ada. It'll help us squeeze some precious extra metal from these mexes.
Sophia: Mind where you place those things, Ada. It can get really warm next to one of these when it goes off.
