Section 2.3 Assembly of the Y Unit Mounting the Y Carriage and Timing Belt
|
|
|
|
|
-
Mount the Y-Teeth onto the Y-Carriage with the 2 M3x16 screws.
-
Take a good look on the orientation of all parts.
|
-
Mount the Y-Carriage onto the linear bearings with zipties.
-
Mind the orientation of all parts
-
Cut of the loose of the zipties.
-
Check if the Y-Carriage can moove smoothly. It should move by gravity if you tilt the Y-Unit.
|
|
|
-
Put the timing belt over the idler bearing.
-
Put one end of the timing belt into the Y-Teeth.
-
Put the timing belt over the motor pulley.
-
Put the belt tensioner on the belt as shown in the picture above.
-
Put the other end of timing belt into the Y-Teeth.
-
The tension should be not to loose nor too tight
-
Too loose: you see the belt moving up and down at the idler when you move the Y-Carriage
-
Too tight: the belt makes sound like a guitar string.
-
-
In all cases it is better to have the belt a bit more tight than too loose.
-
The belt tensioner should be (almost) straight as shown in the image.
-
Put the right hand-flange nut 12,5 centimeters from the backplate
-
Lock it by the M10 nut, which functions as a counternut.
-
The left hand flange-nut will be fixed later.
|
-
Put the rubber feet in the designated slots of the lower corners.
