Aeolus_vs_OpenStack

NOTE: This page is an early draft, and should eventually end up on the main aeolusproject.org site after peer review.

Although OpenStack and Aeolus occupy a similar space, they are not really comparable products.

OpenStack aims to provide a private cloud offering.

The Aeolus Project aims to provide a platform for managing cross-cloud deployments.

Rather than being competing technologies, they’re complementary. We will soon have OpenStack support in Aeolus. You can use Aeolus to manage deployments on public clouds like EC2 or Rackspace, and also private clouds like vSphere, RHEV-M, or, soon, OpenStack.
