Public Redmine (COMPLETE)

The goal is to get an instance of redmine publicly visible.

Options

  • Hosted internally at Red Hat (et3)
  • Hosted internally at Red Hat IT
  • Hosted externally on heroku
  • Hosted externally elsewhere

Common work to be done

There is some work common to any hosting solution we chose:

  • Reorganization of aeolus into a master project with sub-projects such as conductor, iwhd, etc.
  • Test out the idea of turning off features we don’t want/need/use.
  • Turn off ldap authentication since that won’t be available in any hosted solution
  • integration with aeolusproject.org site.

Hosted internally at Red Hat (et3)

  • rpm packages for redmine, rails, etc
  • improve monitoring
  • improve/revamp backup strategy
  • hook into smtp

Hosted internally at Red Hat IT

  • rpms that aren’t ready in IT (redmine and deps, but not rails)
  • collaborate on puppet recipes with IT
  • work through any issues linking aeolousproject.org (et3) to the rest of IT infra (or just moving aeolusproject.org out as well)

Hosted externally on heroku

  • Figure out ssl/no-ssl (how to do secure login on heroku?)
  • work out dns issues
  • work out backup strategy

Hosted externally elsewhere

  • Identify host
  • Build packages for redmine, etc.
  • Set up app monitoring
  • Set up backup strategy
